Mr. Choi-isms

With the new school year, I am taking physics! I was excited to start this class because I’m going to do a lot of physics later on. The teacher of this class is named Mr. Choi. He’s quite an interesting character, so I would like to share with you so of the things he says. We’ll start with toe socks.

Mr. Choi wears toe socks and sandals everyday, no matter what the weather. He says that all the Asian people look alike, but Koreans are still the best looking. (he’s Korean, you see) When people see him they say, “you know, I think I’ve seen you before” Then he says he just lifts his leg up and shows them his toe socks and they remember him.

He had a competition for us on Friday, we had to build the tallest and most stable free-standing structure out of paperclips, tape and straws. The winner got toe socks!! and guess what!!  I WON!!! :D Woohoo!!!

I’ve been wearing my toe socks all weekend :)

next time: why he’s a teacher….

  • Glad you’re enjoying your class. Toe socks were the rage when I was in Jr. High school. I had a date show up at my door wearing a tuxedo and toe socks, and we went bowling.

Any chance you got a picture of structure with your cell phone??? (though you probably can’t take your phone to class….)

  • Yes! I want to see a picture of your structure, if you have it :)

And I loved toe socks when I was younger… they are quite comfortable. I had a few pair of rainbow striped toe socks. They were awesome. Congratulations!

no, I didn’t get a picture of it, we had to take it apart after the winner was declared. Although it wasn’t that special. The base was a pyramid(with a triangular base) and from the top we just stacked straws up like an an antenna. Then there were straws on each corner of the very base to help it be stable kind of like a tripod

I’ve really enjoyed hearing about the Mr Choi-ism so far. He is very unusual. I hope he continues to make physics fun!
