One week, five people
This week is Spring Break. I had gotten an offer to go to Disneyland with my friend, Briana. I think that would have been really fun. Although since I was in Hawaii two weeks ago and Oregon the weekend after that, I decided to stay home and take the opportunity to relax and hang out with my friends who were also staying home.
John’s friend Joe has come up from Vancouver, too. I was really excited because they don’t get to see each other very often and John likes to do stuff with him. Joe also has a girlfriend up here, so I knew that would make her really happy too.
I thought it would be fun to get together the five of us (along with Joe’s girlfriend we’d have my and her friend Julia) and do some things this week.
Although I’m finding that trying to plan tings to do between five different people is hard… John wants to do stuff with Joe because they don’t see each other, I want to do stuff with John, Joe wants to do stuff with John, Casie (Joe’s girlfriend) wants to do stuff with Joe, Julia doesn’t really like being around “couples” but deals with it, I want to do stuff with Julia when she’s going to do something with Casie, I want to let John and Joe do what they want but when I decide to do something with John it’s the days that Casie’s not doing something with Joe.. So it’s hard to make everything work out.
Today is a great example of how things end up going.
Yesterday we thought we had it all planned. Julia was going to hang out with me, Joe was going to see Casie, Julia and I would then go hang out with John while Joe was with Casie. Simple, right?
Today:
- John and Joe realize that they don’t have enough time to do what they would like to, while trying to accomidate the rest of us
- Joe calls Casie saying that he can’t get together with her. Casie says okay, but is really disappointed.
- Julia and I are still going to walk up and hang out with John, but this time along with Joe.
- Joe realizes that he thought Julia and I were coming up eariler, so that if they wait for us to come up that would defeat the purpose of canceling with Casie.
- I suggest that Joe call Casie up again. Wouldn’t you think she’d be happy to hear he could come?
- Casie wouldn’t want to Joe to leave once he was over there, so he and John couldn’t do what they wanted to today.
- I insist that they should do what they want to. We’ll let them, and not argue. They should decide if they want us to come up, Joe to go over there, go ride their bike to Zips, whatever.
- John says that they would like to use the time they have, instead of wait.
- I’m a little disappointed because I wanted to see him, but I’ll get to spend time with John tomorrow and Julia’s coming over today.
- John says he’s sorry, explaining what I’ve heard so many times, it’s drilled into my head. He and Joe want to do stuff together because they only see each other 3 weeks out of the year. And I get to see and do stuff with John a lot. I’m not forgetful.. or demanding.. I know that, I’m not protesting them doing stuff together.
- Julia calls and says that she can’t come over because she has no ride and her brother is sick.
- John and Joe leave to go off to Zips, Julia’s sad she can’t come over and says we can do stuff on Wednesday, Casie’s disappointed that Joe’s not coming, I’m here at home by myself…
I don’t want this to happen again. Briana’s gone so I can’t do stuff with her, and I wanted to be able to do stuff this week so I wouldn’t feel bad about not going with Briana. So far it’s not turning out so well..
It’s kind of funny.. when we try to get together it doesn’t work. When they don’t try to, they somehow get together… I’m still at home.
… but that may be another post…
