John and the Chocolate Cow

For christmas, I wrote a story about my (very special) friend John. He loves chocolate milk, so it was about a prince who was searching for the best chocolate milk and then he finds a lovely maiden (which would be me). I found somewhere on line that would publish the book for me so I could give him a book with pictures and everything. I was so proud of my work I wanted a copy myself, so I got two! I was finally able to give it to him yesterday, after trouble with the shipping. He loved it, he couldn’t stop smiling or hugging me as I read it to him. One of my favorite parts was the pictures, this is my very favorite:     (I was captured and then tied to a rock; John came and saved me!)

Snowflakes!!!

I love snowflakes. They’re so cool. During the winter I like to spend my time making paper snowflakes, I’ve gotten quite good at them. Although mine are nothing compared to the loveliness of my mothers. Last year we discovered a very cool site where you can make snowflakes in a flash thing. That’s very fun, I’ve already made about 60 of them!  Here are a few:

Ode to Popcorn

Oh, yummy popcorn, how you delight me

The varying butteriness of each of thy kernels

How you amaze me with your popping

From decorating Christmas trees

To molding with caramel to form spheres

And even accompanying me to movies

Whenever I go to a theater,

You’re there, waiting

So faithful, So delicious

We laugh, We cry,

We part our ways at the trash can

Oh, yummy popcorn, how I miss thee

Until next time, you will see

My best-est buddy popcorn will always delight me

Magellen

Last year right after Christmas we got a sweet little kitty. My mom wanted to get one, and so we headed into the PetSmart to see if there was a cat she wanted to adopt. He was only a couple months old and named Buddy. Soon after we took him home and let him explore, he had earned the new name Magellen. He was and always will be an explorer. He loved to play with feathers. The night he came to our house we wondered where he was. We could hear meowing and figured out it was coming from a closet. The door was closed. Guess what! Magellen was in there. How he got in there, I still haven’t figured out. That night we also had the pleasure of witnessing him suck his toes! He’s a very weird cat. When he’s happy he not only purrs, but sucks his toes or wrists, whichever is closest. It has something to do with being taken away from his mother too soon. When he gets comfortable, he sucks his toes and needs with his paws.He liked to play with anything, and run around the house.

sucking his toes...?

Sometimes we seriously thought he was paranoid. He’d hear you coming down the stairs and he’d grip the carpet, staring up at you. Or he’d run down the hall, his feet not getting enough friction on the hardwood floor, and it would take him a few sprints *in place* before he got going. Once he was either very hyper or very defensive, and I learned of his “battle cry”. He had been relaxing in a chair and when I moved it just slightly he straightened up and looked at me. I moved the chair some more because his stare was actually quite startling. He kept his gaze on me the whole time. Then he slowly tilted his head and let out this pitiful meow, that just makes you want to pet him, yet it was strange because there was something different in it. I reached to pet him, and lightning fast he swatted at me. Luckily I pulled my hand back quickly. He stared at me again. And meowed Again. I didn’t want to pet him. My mom stuck a fork out at him. He attacked the fork!!

When we was finished with mauling the fork, he settled back down onto the chair. It was a frightening experience… Sometimes he would come into my room and meow, wanting my attention. So I’d pick him up and start hugging him. He is a very fuzzy cat. Although, as we knew would most likely happen, Magellen irritated my mom’s allergies. She put up with them and tried to find other ways to make them go away. But she still had them. She didn’t want to give Magellen away though. When my brother and I went back to school after the summer, Magellen would meow and mope around the house. It was pitiful but kind of funny. Eventually my mom decided, although sad about her decision, that Magellen needed to find a new home. Her allergies were very hard to put up with and she concluded Magellen would be happier with other cats too. We first asked around to see if anyone we knew would like to welcome Magellen into their home. Regretfully they all said they weren’t able to. So the time came to ask the Pet Overpopulation Prevention people.. They didn’t have any foster homes he could go to for a while, but said we could bring him to maybe get adopted. On the sad Saturday, we brought him to the PetSmart. He was very scared and didn’t like the car ride (meowing all the way) Nobody adopted him that day but when we picked him up the woman in charge asked if we could bring him back the next day. So, the next day being today.. We brought him back there. not even an hour later we got a call that he’d been adopted; someone wanted to take him home. I miss him a lot. I’m afraid he won’t be happy there, but he probably will. I wish he was still here though, I liked his warm fuzziness that I could hug. Even though he would accidentally catch his long claws on my clothes, get hair all over me, and sometimes swat at my feet,

Magellen :)

I still love my little kitty.

What I am Thankful For

Inspired by my mom’s recent post about what she is thankful for I have decided to write my own. I will start with:

Toast - If toasted to perfection with just the right amount of butter evenly spread across the top, and eaten while warm :)

Movies – For bringing such amazing worlds and story lines to life and providing me with hours of entertainment.

Sam...

Sam...

Sam – The older brother everyone would want, caring, easy to talk to, intelligent, doesn’t annoy me Every hour of the day. I can always ask him for help with homework, or even tell him I feel like a Blizzard and he will take me to go get one! He gets enthusiastic about things and wants me to be too, so he’ll explain stuff to me.

Straws – They make drinking beverages even funner! Especially when they are brightly colored.

Music – Pleasant sounds to listen to, in so many different styles.

My music playing abilities – I enjoy my playing and delight others around me who want to hear.

My Mom and Dad :)

My Mom and Dad :)

My mom – My mom is one of the awesome-est people I know, she’s understanding, helpful, thorough in her work, determined, organized, silly.

My dad – My wonderous dad who works so I can have nice clothes, and food (especially toast) who plays his guitar in the evening, who likes to cook yummy food, who makes sure I get up in the morning to go to school…

Computers – Without them nothing would get done so efficently and look neat.

Internet – I, like so many other people, am thankful for the internet! I even wrote an essay about how it’s a very beneficial invention in English.

Blankets – They’re so soft and warm and cuddly :)

Cell phones – How else would I randomly say, “rawr!” to my friends whenever I feel like it?

Briana!

Briana!

Briana – She’s just about as weird as I am, and has been my best friend since 2nd grade. Just because I said “Hi”. She’s always there to be weird with me, let me tell her whatever random thing I’m thinking about, and to comfort me.

Candy – Milky Ways, Skittles, and Starbursts in particular. They’re so yummy!

Bow ties – Oh, how fashionable…

Cameras – They can document memories and when you look back at the pictures it’s fun to reminisce.

Socks – My feet get cold otherwise, and some funky socks are very cute.

John would be the dashing young fellow in this picture; I'm the silly girl next to him

John would be the dashing young fellow in this picture; I would be the silly girl next to him

John – The amazing, wonderful, intelligent, kind, responsible, polite, tall, compassionate, optimistic, boyfriend of mine who smiles when he sees me, enjoys walking me home and crunching leaves, lip-syncs to music on the radio as we ride the bus to school, walks on the side of the sidewalk closest to the street (he worries about ‘maniac drivers’ ), and stays up and talks to me over the weekends.

Flowers – Even though I think some of them are creepy, they’re still really pretty.

Books – Along with movies, they bring fantastical worlds and intriguing story lines into my imagination.

Space – It provides so many interesting things that are out there to learn about and discover.

Fall – After the hot summer months, I love fall for cooling things down, making overcast skies (my favorite! -in the day) and providing crunchy leaves.

Spell-check – Without it, nobody would be able to understand what I write.

Lists – An organized way of collecting thoughts.

There you have it, some things I’m thankful for :D
